Here are a few of the initiatives that Cherish International is now supporting:

Kwacha Visions Peoples Care (KVPC) — New

Kwacha Visions Peoples Care KVPC is a community centre located in Chilobwe, approximately 5km from Blantyre City Centre. The centre opened in 2007 and its main focus is to help orphans and children from nearby villages that have been diagnosed with HIV, with counselling services and basic primary education.

Their biggest challenge is to raise funds and provide for 65 children. Given that the centre currently has limited access to clean water, sanitation and electricity, Cherish International is hoping to provide children at KVPC with at least two meals a day – which until last year consisted of basic rations, limited to just ONE bowl of porridge a day.

How can you help?

Regular donations will help us provide children in need with at least two basic meals a day, consisting of maize, porridge, clean water, charcoal, vegetables, oil, beans and rice. The approximate cost for basic rations is approximately £850 a month.

Haven of Rest / Chrissie's Orphanage — New

Over the past seven years, Haven of Rest have built up an orphanage in the rural outskirts of Blantyre (Chidzaro and Chiswe) and are feeding, clothing and educating 250 children. The orphanage continues to struggle with providing for the children with most of them receiving just ONE meal a day. As such, the establishment is desperate for funds to ensure that its orphans are properly fed and continue striving under their care.

How can you help?

Cherish International's aim is to help feed at least half of these children, by providing larger meals and other facilities. Approximately £10 a month will help feed at least 162 orphans and this is where we need your support.

Past Initiatives

Mountain View School: 2006 – 2013

Established in 1997, Mountain View School in Malawi aims to provide education for children with hearing disabilities. With Cherish International's support, the school grew from a mere 24 pupils (ages 5 upwards) to over 175, and offered free education and accommodation, with 18 teachers and 16 support staff. Your donations allowed the school to better cater to the children’s needs, funding the cost of food, health care, education materials, security and accommodation.
